While others advocate outpatient joint replacement, Dr. Gilbert favors a short hospital stay. For those who wish to go home the same day, this is available. Anesthetic techniques and outpatient nursing care systems are in place to provide needed care.
Virtually all of our patients want the comfort and reassurance of the immediate care that is only provided in the hospital setting. The majority of our patients go home comfortably on day two or three with the assistance of a family member or friend. Rehab services and pleasant extended stay facilities are available for those in need of such services.
